It was the WORST wakeup call in the world

Warning MAD rant...do not read!!

So yeah, NIU has their spring football game today, and to get interist, they must want to try and wake up everyone in the dorms and get their attention.

Well...

Last night was was enjoying a *few * beers with some friends and finally got to sleep at about 4:30am. I was planning on possibly attending the football game but because it's cold as nuts outside right now, I'm not gonna go. Well, anyways, around 11:50 am the NIU football team went through their varsity awards. At the end, they shot off a barrage of fireworks. My drunk ass last night decided to leave the windows open to let cold air in. WHen the fireworks went off, I was on 6ish hours of sleep and hung over. The fireworks echoed off the 15 story building right across the road from me into loud unearthly booms. I jumped up after the 1st one and had NO F'n clue what was going on. I hear my roommate yell "What the hell is going on?" I fall out of the top bunk, 20 seconds into this constant booming noise and run to the window. I cant see anything that would be making gunshot sounds. You have to understand, this was a constant roar of explosions...it sounded like 2-3 AK47's going off at once for about 40 seconds. About 30 seconds into the explosions, my neighboor runs into the room confused as all hell.

Well...we finally found out that it was fireworks from the football game (and some cannon fire), but it still scared us like hell.

So I just want to say
"Thanks NIU for waking our drunken asses up at 11 in the morning with your fireworks...next time, I hope you burn the dorms down..."

pfft...that happens every week here during the fall. after every home football game, we have fireworks. it used to scare the crap outta me until I got used to it. thankfully the games are at night, not in the morning. I sympathize with you there.

you want to hear bad wakeups, though, it was thursday at 9 in the morning. I was actually already up. I was eating breakfast when I heard someone screaming. I asked one of my roommates if he knew what it was. he figured it was our other roommate and his girlfriend doing the nasty. right as I finished eating breakfast, there's a loud pounding on our front door. I actually thought it was one of our neighbors coming to complain about our roommate's loud humping, but it was actually the cops pounding down our door. I was freaked out enough by that, then the guy tells us that there's a gas leak and we have to evacuate. the roommate I was talking with had to leave for work so I told our other roommate who, as it turns out, did not have his girlfriend with him (the screaming was something else). so I grabbed some pants to pull on over my shorts and shivvered my way over to the community center where I sat with everyone else from the surrounding apartments all in our PJs for at least a half hour.

That sucks. I remember during my disney trip, we'd get a wakeup phone call from the hotel each morning. Once we got one at 4:30 in the morning. I had to answer them since my head was closest to the phone. There's that, then there's the wakeup call from my aunt when she walks into my room while i'm sleeping, turns on my computer, which wakes me up, and then starts her loud typing and mouse clicking. It's like " Good god woman! Get the hell out of my room!"
