What parks would you want to live by most, and not live by?

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.

However, don't say SFGAm because most of us live near the park anywhere.

Taking out SFGAm in this equation, for me it would have to be Magic Mountain (to live by most), and Six Flags Over Texas. And near Magic Mountain, there are some other parks within a small drive like Knott's, and Disneyland. For parks, that I would NOT really want to live by, I would probably say somewhere like Dollywood, Kentucky Kingdom, or Holiday World. And even though Florida probably has the most theme parks, I wouldn't want to live there either because to me each park only has a litte bit of great in my opinion where as I feel a SFGAm, SFMM, or SFOT have a lot of great rides.

Already live there being 5 minutes from EPCOT. If I had to pick a different place, I would go with Anaheim, CA area. You get 2 Disney parks, Knott's and year round operation at your doorstep.

Where not to live would be anywhere without year round operation. The off season sucks but not as much as cold weather. Specific major parks would be Cedar Point (awful travel times to other parks), SF Great America (park got real old, real fast), and Carowinds (once again, awful travel times.)

Hope you own a lot of bullet proof vests.

Those, especially SFGAdv top the list of parks I absolutely dont want to live near, but I would love to live near Knoebels, not just for Knoebels itself but it's very central to a lot of awesome parks, not more than 5 hours or so from Hershey, Dorney, DelGrossos, Lakemont, SFGAdv if I so desire, Everything at Coney Island, SFA, All the Jersey Piers, Rye Playland, Kennywood, Quassy, all the Maryland Piers, Lake Compounce, everything in the Niagara Falls area, Conneaut, Waldameer, Kings Dominion, SFNE, Great Escape, BGW, Canadas Wonderland, and Canobie Lake Park amongst around 2 dozen other small FEC's.

Sure beats the Adventureland, SFSTL, SFKK, PKI, CP, MiAdv, WI Dells 5 hours circle from here.

Calgary, Alberta....Silverwood is about 7 hours away, and the West Edmonton Mall is only about 3 1/2. Yeah that seems kind of far but it sure is a hell of a lot closer then driving to those parks from here. Not to mention, Vancouver and Seattle would be easily doable for a weekend trip. Also the drive wouldn't be that bad, I would never get bored driving through those mountains.

During the offseason, Edmonton Mall is open year round and you are surrounded by tons of winter activities. Like skiing, snowmobiling (just as good as a coaster), and even Luge! The Great White north is looking pretty sweet to me! The job market it good too.

BTW- This is actually a real goal for me ;)

I'm pretty good with where I live right now... 10 from USH, 20 from SFMM, 40 from Disneyland and Knott's.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

Then you have to put up with all those Flames fans, I couldn't take that. I like being in Chicago or Milwaukee. SFGAm is a decent park. If I want to go anywhere else, I can fly there, or take a nice road trip.

I wouldnt. Kings Island is big but has almost no good rides (diamonback is overatted and Stunt coaster, top gun, and firehawk are just "ok") And the only ride I really liked at CP is maverick (Forceless, and Raptor are good, but nothing great.)

Agreed with FParker, I live near SFGAdv now, and its just not a fantastic place to be.

A place with no offseason would be nice, but I think Pennsylvania would be good too because of the sheer amount of parks. East coast near NC or the capital would be good too.
