I recently attended a presentation on the Disney college program and i applied and i have scheduled a phone interview to work in Orlando Florida to help keep me busy during the off-season. I was wondering if anyone here has done the college program can you post any helpful tips or experiences i was also debating whether i want to do the program from august to janruary or from janruary to may? any thoughts on the topic

Girlfriend participated in this during her Sophomore year in college. She was a character performer and misses Disney constantly. They work you to the bone, but from what I gather its a pretty amazing experience. Be cautious though, because many people who go down there stay there too...

Make sure you evaluate all your options with this and consider every facet of what participating in this would mean. I was accepted into this, and if I had done this, it would have set me back a lot and cost me more in the long run. Be aware that they charge you for everything (like housing), don't provide insurance or help you get there, and it's basically just a minimum wage job. Also be aware that you will be missing school for at least one whole semester and would probably set you back in graduation. Also, depending on how often your school runs classes, this could set you back at least a year in school even though you'd only be missing a semester. If you do in fact do this, then you will also have to be very ambitious when making contacts in order to build this into a job opportunity for later, at least that's according to a friend of mine who now works for a firm that's contracted by many Orlando area parks. Make sure you take your time with the decision and don't be blinded by Disney. I'm not saying this is bad thing, it just doesn't work out for everyone.
