I'm looking for something else maybe to do besides just watching horror movies (nothing wrong with that, but something more than that), and going out to eat?

I go to a friend of the family's for Halloween, they have a party each year and they make chili. It's fun to do because here at my house, we don't get trick or treaters.
I don't do haunted houses, I went to a few in middle school and there was a Service Merchanidse store in Schaumburg that went out of business that they turned to one and I didn't go in because I was scared to death.
I turn off all the lights and sit in the basement on my computer eating the candy my parents left to hand out to trick or treaters who get tricked when they see a missing doorbell button (love wireless doorbells).
It's kinda weird cause when I was a kid I'd save the previous years costumes so I could go out trick or treating multiple times to the same houses and get a gigantic candy haul.

Started putting Cave of the Demon stuff out. Lots of new props planned. Unfortunately unlike last year where props came out bit by bit throughout the month, I won't be able to bring anything out other than the Demon sign until the week of Halloween. Already raided a salvage yard, and my friend donated another Fiero bumper that I can stick lights in.
The cold weather last week fried the strobe light in the sign that lights up the eyes so I need to replace that. Going to spraypaint flames on the grass again; will do that probably next Friday. A fog machine and the speakers for the music will be hidden in the black duct tubes leading from the porch to the sign.
Last year the result was this: What's cool is some of the fog actually gets under the sign and the cold grass keeps that fog low, so the fog also looks like it's coming from the ground itself.
Drainpipe eyes are now lit with a contractor light. Very bright but gets toasty in there; I either need to drill a few vent holes in the barrel or I may just stick a fan in there. Also drilled a hole in the side so a fog machine can spit fog into the barrel itself. Now I'm using a Dremel and cleaning up the inside edge where I had to remove the lid of the barrel. Broke one of the bars off the other day so I had to stop and re-glue that. Pic is from a couple of weeks ago, I've cleaned up almost all of the jagged edges inside the barrel under the lowermost bar. Was also testing a fog machine when I shot this.
Oh; and since most other towns nearby have p*ssied out on trick or treating ON Halloween night, I still go raid some other towns for candy. Seriously; if some people worry too much about trick or treating (AT NIGHT, ON HALLOWEEN, LIKE IT SHOULD BE) and having a good time; then stay home and don't screw it up for everyone else.
At least this is ONE thing Grayslake has not ruined yet, although we seem to be heading that way with the loss of the Ghost Walk last year, and now Dungeon of Doom (to Zion). [/rant]

I refurbished the sign in 2007. Last year it got new lights but the light was destroyed by the crappy weather two weeks ago when I put the sign out.
Some pics from when I built the Demon sign back in 2005: Basically this light is lighting the eyes again; however I've added a bracket to the wooden sign that now holds it. Before I had issues with positioning the light to point at the eyes while keeping it low to the ground.
And some pics from the 2007 rehab: Rubbed dirt clumps on it to give the sign that aged look.
The "drainpipe" was built last year.

Do they have some sort of discount or something? Is AMF or is this Brunswick?

Drainpipe is done. Here is the final setup with the fog machine. I built an el-cheapo extension using a funnel and some plastic tubing; then Liquid-Nails glued it to the front of the fog machine. This way it spits the fog directly into the drainpipe.
A view of the guts. There is enough space that I will be cramming the sound effects speakers into the back of this; along with a cooling fan. The large hole will be covered up.

Well in the morning I get to tear down all of the spider webs and start over as this weather has been complete hell. Parts of the junkyard fell over and brought a bunch of the webs down as well. Also need to scramble to get the tarps to enclose the porch up. Then finish setting up audio and fog machines, then test everything. All within 5 hours.

Demon sign's about done with rehab #2... NOW, LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE, IN 3D!! It is basically a downscaled version of the chemical barrel I made a few years ago. It will spit fog from the drainpipe, rather than emerge from behind the sign like in previous years.
