How many of you believe in paranormal stuff, like spirits, UFO's, etc. I am very interested in it and love debating and talking about it. Anyone the same as me?
I'm a little skeptical of anything like this, but I'll never rule the idea out completely.
I am, however, taking a philosophy of death and dying class (it's a gen ed for me) and there have been some REALLY wierd stories about spirits and stuff in our discussion. You'd like the class if you're into this stuff.

^UIC downtown. We had to take a philosophy class for my major and thought i'd be good quality entertainment. I think, however, i'm actually enjoying it quite a bit!

Ghost's I sort of beleive in. Seen some wacky stuff on Ghost Hunters. Ufo's I use to be a firm beleiver in them, but for some reason I am slowly moving to the skeptical side. Though, there are a few UFO cases that are simply amazing, and cannot be dismissed very easily.

There are lots and lots of cases. For anyone who is religious, why whould God make everything just to have us? And for you politically correct people, the same thing applies. Why would we have endless space and not have any other kind of intelligent life?
This is sort of off subject, but here's a point to ponder. Scientists say space is expanding. If space is everything, then what can space expand into?
One more... USO's are another growing phenomena. They are basically UFO's but instead of coming from space they come from oceans or lakes. If you think about it, it's sorta believable. The oceans are Earth's last unexplored frontier, and the thought of some kind of life is plausible.
Personally, I have reasons for both. Well, the eye-witness accounts, they are all very similar in story and have had many massive sitings. Then again, if the universal speed limit is correct (speed of light 3.0 x 10^8 m/s) then it would take these beings 1000s of years to reach us if they are not of our solar system. That being said, why would they be visiting us and spending all that time to come see what we are doing. But if they are able to go the speed of light, then it creates a time warp, which essentially allows time to freeze and you can travel without any time being lost on the ship, but the time on the planet will still continue, its all relativity. And if they can go FASTER than the speed of light, they'll basically be going backwards in time and arrive at Earth before they even left their planet. So, if the ship is able to go the speed of light or faster, then it is very possible that they could send out missions to Earth, though the ship may seem like completing the mission in a few days, it would take many, many years on the planet for the ship to return. So, that raises the question again...what is the point in sending out missions to Earth and see our progress if they aren't even going to be receiving the information for thousands of years? The only way to track the progress, is if the continually send out ships every year, or some in massive amounts. That may be a cause for why the sightings are becoming more frequent, they are sending more ships out day after day or year after year. So all that being said, it can be true but really I don't see a reason for them to waste all that time to track our progress if they are receiving it thousands of years from now.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
^That is a very good point, but for all we know, they have some sort of technology to accomplish things like time warp easier that what our Human Earth Science knows. They could be thousands of years ahead of us. Or, they could just be more advanced & developed. We might never know, unless some day, they come...
What Danhockey said about the speed of light and space travel is true, BUT, does the human race know everything regarding space travel, time and space? I would bet that we don't. Who's to say an alien race hundreds of years more advanced than us have not figured out the secret of space travel.
