Dell or HP

I think HP Computers are better because they don't break down as fast as any other computer does. I have had A HP Pavilion 513c for 3 yrs and we had only minimum problems like Worms, Spyware, PC runs slow, and the customer care is just nice! They help you with the problem, send you updates, give you suggestion for future problems. I give HP a 5 stars, and 100% overall! :D

Now for dell, I have heard rumors that Dell Computers break down easy from REALLY BAD Viruses, Worms, Crashes, ETC. ETC.. and the customer care is just Crappy! (Now Thats What I Heard So Don't Get Mad At Me!)
But I do like the syle of their computers. I give dell 3 Stars, 80% overall! :)

But what do you guys think? Dell Or HP?

I like Hp better since I have a HPCompaq Precario 3100 computer. Ive had it for 2 1/2 months, besides it crashing because of my stupidity, it has been fine. It was $300 from best buy.

Dell, with coupons their prices can't be beat. Their products tailor to the average PC user.

And spyware, virius, addware, etc issues have nothing to do with the computer type. It's the computer user and operating system. It appears dell has more issues because more 'average' computer users buy dells and they are the most prone to addware/viriuses.

I would have to say Dell. We have a dell at home and it has only crashed once in the five years we have had it. During that one time, we called up Dell and within a few hours we had fixed most of the problems. Also, i have a Dell Laptop right now and it is so good. It runs very fast, it was extremely cheap, and it has had a trojan and still works fine. It even gave me a pop-up screen that warned me of the Trojan so i could get rid of it right away. Finally, i have friends that have HP laptops and theirs don't run as fast and Dell was willing to personalize my computer for my architecture program at UIC for very cheap. HP wouldn't do it.

DUDE, i got a dell!!!

I accidentally switched the boot screen so that 8 cars per trainer came up as my boot screen. It erased everything. Its not a flaw with the program just me being stupid. :D

Dell. I have had my Inspiron 1100 for two years as of December, hasn't crashed once. Very solid computer. My sister just got the Insprion 1000 in August and it works beautifully. As for customer care, Dell was very friendly when we bought the computer over the phone. Also, if you do have to get it fixed, they send you a box with a return label, so all you have to do is send it back in the special packaging. No waiting around all day for someone to show up at your home or having to lug it back to the store you bought it from.

Compaq has been a nightmare. We have had to reimage the hard drive three times, and we've only had it for four years. Not to mention the monitor is very loosely attached to the body of the laptop. Not to mention the Compaq cost $900 and the Dell was only $500 (granted, the Compaq is two years older).

We also have an HP Pavilion from 1999 and it has held up well, although the power supply did have to be replaced.

Dell and HP are pretty much comparable, although usually Dell gives you a better value. I do prefer HP's wide variety of other hardware, particularly printers.

Gateways are also comparable, although the only we have ever owned was before we bought the Pavilion, so I can't really tell you what recent models are like. The one we did have, though, lasted nearly seven years. Before we bought the Pavilion, we had two eMachines for about a week before returning, because they were having major issues with the internet connection. Just stay away from Compaq by all means.

Whatever you do, make sure you get the longest warranty possible. That way, in case something like a fan goes out, it's not a hassle to get another one in. Budget model computers are becoming so dispensible that you get a four year warranty, and once it breaks after the warranty is up, it's time to get a new one anyways for not too much more than it would be to get it fixed.

My HP computer Power Supply needs to be replaced too! It's like whenever we turn off our pc and cut it back on, it comes on but it goes off! So we are gonna try to get it fixed.
