You can get better. This would be ok, if you're only using it for
Word Processing and basic stuff. I have a Dell Computer, customize.

Mine is set up for Multimedia stuff, like photo-editing, Video production,
but getting a computer should be based on what you would need it for.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM DELL WITHOUT WATCHING COUPONS!

I got a 2,000 dollar laptop for 1300 by waiting for a good coupon.

Here's my opinion of that computer.

Celeron 2.4 ghz Processor: The new (Celeron D) processors arn't all that bad. The celeron is an economy chip (as it lacks L2 cache) but is still fine for running word processing and basic games. However, the processor can't handle many different tasks at once such as running Virius software and CD burning at the same time.

XP Home: Good

RAM: 256 is a little low. My computer takes about 210 just to start up. I would highly adivse you to go with 512 or 1024 mb of RAM, otherwise you face some serious slowdown. Good news is you can purchase another 256 SODIMM (stick of ram) off Newegg for realitvaly cheep and it's a VERY easy install.

80 gig 7200rpm Hard Disk: Good

CDRW: Good

17inch CRT: Meh, Dell's moniters arnt bad. And only adding 10.00 to the price-that can't be beat! (will add to shipping however)

Speakers: Don't expect a lot of performance out of these. Good for casual listning.

yeah aero is so right....before I got my laptop I spent a good deal of time looking around the Internet for coupons and what do ya know, I found a %15 off coupon. Saved me around a hundred dollars.

As for that computer....well it's definately not top of the line, but you get what you pay for. I personally need at least 512mb of ram or I get impatient.

I almost bought a dell originally....I was looking at the XPS. I would've bought it too, except it was Pentium....I think AMD's run faster and the benchmarks are better for all around performance. Its kinda like the Windows-Mac thing.... you either love P4 or hate it....

Aero's right. you need at least 1/2 a gig of RAM to really run XP. trust me, I had 256 on my old computer and I couldn't stand it. I suppose the celleron's all right. if I were building a low-end machine, I'd probably use the celleron D, but I haven't kept up with reviews.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

The coupons for Dell PC's stink right now. They did have save 40% on Insiron Notebooks but that expired yesterday (You could have gotten a top of the line 3000 dollar notbook for a little over 1600).

Go to dell auction at dellauction.com. I bought my Latitude C610 from there 6 months ago for only $475 (labtop, 1.2GHZ,512RAM,Win2k pro, 48xCDRW 8xDVD)

They are all end of lease or refurbished, some even still have full service warranties on them.

Dell has the cheapest shipping I've seen. My labtop was $17 UPS and I had it 2 days after winning my auction.
