Star Power and Store Power

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.

I just find it amazing how people when they go to the movies, they only will care to go if there is a major star, and for stores / restaurants, it seems the complete opposite. A lot of people seem to hate the corporate everywhere stores / restaurants. When you are not a franchise store / restaurant, you have no enemies, but once you expand here come all the bashers.

Back to the movie, If you put Jennifer Garner, and Ben Affleck in a movie, you know that movie is going to make tons, but the same movie with other actors maybe first coming on the scene, the movie is going to flop.

This just amazes me because where do you think these actors / actresses come from? They don't start out big all of a sudden. They are in "bad" movies no one has ever seen because of no stars, and keep on growing, and growing. I put "bad" movies, because are they really bad?

On a sidenote, why do the big time stars have to be in animated movies? Do the kids really care if you have Tom Hanks, and Tim Allen in Toy Story? You can have anybody in an animated movie, and the kids would probably like it.

^I never got the hate for big chain stores. Most of the time, small/local stores stay that way for a reason.Any store owner that says they want to stay small or local knows they would never be successful on a large scale.

On the star front, it's how you look. Megan Fox has never had a single good performance, but she is hot so she sells tickets. It has always been that was since the talkie films started. Only problem was film companies in the past were smart enough to put good things with the main star fluff.

On the animated movie front, it's about drawing in the same adults who go to any movie of a star. Plus it gets the chance to get said big stars on TV shows to plug the movie.

Welcome to real life? It's all politics and money. For your acting theory, its all about who you know. For your corporation theory, its all about power and economics. We all bash Wal-Mart, but it also costs me 20 bucks less to grocery shop there. For chain clothing lines which are more expensive, there is power with brand. When a girl sees another with a real Gucci purse she is instantly jealous. Shows that she has money, and with money comes power.

Complaining is fine, but there isn't anything any of us will accomplish that will ever change this short of some apocalypse when people are more concerned with how to grow their own food.

I could keep going about how good we all have it now, but I'll stop.
