Buying a Shaver

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.

Hey everyone, I'm looking into getting my first electric shaver. I've already determined that I would prefer an electric shaver over a standard razor. I was wondering what you guys think are the best shavers, and what you would recommend for me. Thanks!

Your so funny. You used an extremely old web meme. Haha. I thought asking people from the real world, not reviewers, would be better. I stand corrected. :/

FIrst time shaving? Use a razor. Once you get used to shaving, THEN get an electric razor. Have fun.

Remember to use a lot of aftershave when you are finished.
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.

^Aftershave is meant to feel soothing to the face. Cologne is a perfume for men and if you put it you face after shaving, you may want to murder something.

David, are you sure your old enough to be on forums?
Anyways, for you, how about you go on out to your favorite store, be it Jewel, Wal-mart, ect... And buy yourself a nice set of Tweezers to get the 2 or 3 whiskers you have been growing over the years.

Get any razor with 3 or more blades. Don't buy in to the quatro or vibrating shit.. It all does the same job.

And buy a can of shaving creme as well.

Also, ignore the age-bashing, obviously if he feels the need the make fun of you because your young... Then he has bigger issues. Mommy and daddy didn't love him :(

+10. I can't stand David most of the time. He just had a question but you guys didn't have to bash him. At least timmy179 was the only mature one.

The only reason I've really ruled out a razor is ingrown hairs. OUCH. I got one a few weeks ago, and it hurts like a B!&%#!

But yes, I'm 14 for anyone that has yet to know that.

^A word of caution on electric razor then. It is going to leave really bad razor burn the first 1-2 weeks. With regular shaving it's much less a chance of razor burn.

What exactly is razor burn? And is it preventable with daily shaving or bi-daily shaving?

Basically just feeling like someone took sand paper over your face. With an electrical razor, it will happen as the face gets used to it but it does take time. No amount of saving or lack of shaving will help, just part of the experience.

Burn will go away after a couple of shaves with a razor. Also, you'll only need to shave about once or twice a week to start. Depending on the person, facial hair doesn't start growing for a while.

I used to exclusively use an electric shaver because it saved time and wasnt as messy. But then I noticed that I ended up not getting as clean and close a shave with the electric as I did with the regular razor. So I switched back to the regular one.

Its about personal preference, but I will say this... It would be wise to start using a regular razor to start, and then see about an electric one later.
