Move over Cubs, White Sox, Bears, and Bulls. After years of being the laughing stock of the city, the Hawks are FINALLY getting the respect they deserve. As a long suffering fan, who stuck with them through the years of 6,000 fans at the U.C., all I can say is.......HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hawks in 6 vs. Philly, or Hawks in 5 vs. Montreal.
LETS GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
Gotta say something here: I grew up in Chicago and played hockey as a kid and was a huge Hawks fan all my life, and even 2 years ago or so any time I tried to have a conversation with someone about how good the Hawks were going to be 90% of people said "No one cares about hockey" etc. Now that they have a Stanley Cup 2 million people show up at the parade and the city is in Blackhawks frenzy. I think anybody who condemned the sport of hockey a few years ago and now is celebrating it just because the Blackhawks have a cup should be burned alive and real fans of the game should get a front row seat to enjoy it.
^ While I agree with most of what you said, there are some things that have to be taken into account. Before Rocky Wirtz came into the picture, his old man ran the team into the ground. Just 5 years ago, the Hawks were voted the WORST franchise in ALL of sports. Now, Bill Wirtz, God rest his soul, was fine person from what I heard, but running a sports team in the here and now was not his strong point. He was still stuck back in the 50 - 60;s. I believe that is why 80% of the fan base was chased away, amoung other things. Like you, I stuck with this team through it all, the early 80's losing to the Gretzky led Oilers everytime we met in the Conference finals. Having what felt like a dagger stuck in my heart getting swept by the Penquins in the finals in 92. If some of these bandwagon jumpers stay aboard, that will be great for the organzation. Hockey is revalant again in Chicago, and it's about time. It is, and always will be, one of the greatest spectator sports there is, and winning the Stanley Cup is the hardest championship to win in all of sports.
I have to admit, when Kane scored in OT, i got emotional, and teared up. A pitcure can say a thousand words to all the long time die hard Hawks fans.

He was one of the worst owners in all of sports, wouldnt even resign Bobby Hull or show the home games on TV. Its no wonder Rocky had such a passion for turning the team around he probably got grilled every day of his life for being his son. Anyway my problem is not really with the bandwagon Hawks fans it's with people saying no one cares about the sport and never will, thats insulting to those of us who love the sport and then of course the same people start following it closely a few years later because their hometown team has a shot at the championship. I'm excieted the Hawks won though, they are definitley the most talented squad the franchise has ever had and its great to see them finally win.

I see I'm a little late to the party over here. I had watched most of the season from school in Milwaukee and finally got home in time for the Finals. I went out to a bar to watch games 2,3, and 6. Game 6 was awesome and the bar I was at was nuts. I was at one of the official Blackhawks bars so they had the goal horn going off and everyone behind the bar was pressing it. I did go to the parade too and got some really good pictures of the team during the parade. I was too far from the stage during the rally and the massive crowd eventually pushed me out anyway. The parade was nuts and if the Hawks repeat, I'm not going to the parade again.
