Hows it going everyone?
For a Gen. Ed course, I have to develop a project on techinical writing. Basically technical writing is developinng writing techiniques that will be easy for the public to use (such as train signs boarding the subway, dollar menu signs for McDonalds, or Advertisments that catch peoples attention).
My project here is simple. I decided to create a park map for Six Flags Great America in order to ride the major attractions by avoiding the long lines (it doesnt necesarily have to work). My directions is to arrive at the park in the morning and head to the back of the park first riding AE, head your way over to Iron Wolf, Yankee Harbor, Mardi Gras, Orleans Place, Southwest Territory and finish off in Hometown Square/ Demon. The park map will be a 4x6 booklet with the cover page showing the park map with arrows as to which direction you should go first. The inside booklet will be the directions, as well as a description of every major attraction (example: One page would have a picture of Batman The Ride along with history and facts about that ride)
Now keep in mind this is a project and although the teacher would like for it to be accurate, minor flaws dont have to be reflected for this project.
My issue here is that I need to develop a usability testing. Usability testing to developing a hands on experiment with actual people in order to see if the project will really work. Since the park is closed for the season, and I need to turn this in mid-March, do you guys have any ideas as to how I will be able to test out the project?
**Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or if it is too confusing.
