The Musician Thread

Well, if youre a musician, heres a thread where you can talk and not get other people confused about music terms.


Well, i'm a drummer. I play in marching, concert, jazz, and pit band at school. In marching im center snare, and im the set player for the other three.

I'm starting to write music right now and am working on a piece for halloween. Its a minor piece in 3/4 time and in the key of G#m. Melody is as follows (all eight notes): Bb-F-F#-Fn-Eb-F-F#. Its based off of "Born of the Night" by midnight syndicate. I'll have it up when im done.

Like i said, i play drums. I have a 15 piece drum set. A Peral EXP series with Evans heads for all of my drums. Now, i have Zildjian and Sabian cymbals. I know, i know, dont mix, but my parents got me them and it sounds fine.

Alto Sax, Bari Sax, same key so its alllllllll good.
I've written one little piece in my day.
C# Penatonic Scale...goes down a step each time, up in groups of three, it's in 3/4. Stuff layers in...yeah.

Right now, I'm playin on a Yamaha Custom Z, my Bari was a Selmer MarkVI.

First in jazz and symphonic band, drum major for marching.
Im all about my skills.

What I'm all about doin now is ear training and technical music theory. It's really fun being able to predict and tell intervals for almost anything.
God I love being a music nerd.
