Michael Lang and Woodstock Ventures LTD. Own the namesake and that domain, which I learned upon research, and I remember that http://www.woodstock.com was the website for the 1999 festival as well.
Michael Lang has confirmed several times that he has plans to have a 2009 festival with the Woodstock namesake.
I would definitley watch parts of it if a TV station broadcasts, no way in hell I would actually go to it. Woodstock 99' had a good show lineup even though it was such a disaster. Its amazing they say "Three More Days of Peace and Music" when they book Metallica, Megadeth, Offspring, etc. Although those bands are awesome, I wouldnt expect any of those concerts to be very "peaceful" especially when theres over a hundred thousand people there beating the crap out of eachother, knocking down broadcast towers, lighting things on fire, and throwing glass bottles at eachother
Haha. We threw plastic bottles. For the most part, it was pretty peaceful.
The ones that rioted were the ones way in the back.... The ones that were like 2 miles from the stage, and could barely see/hear. They did it out of boredom. I myself was 1 and 1/4th miles from the stage, but I had a great time! At the end of the show, people were angry. The port-a-potties were overflowing. There was a shit creek running right through the camping area. It was $4.00 for a bottle of water, you couldn't bring in your own food/drink. That's a stupid idea. I was only 10 at the time, but it's my favorite memory. I was fortunate enough to go with my sisters. As for 100,000 people, my wrist band's number was 421,923. I still have it in a frame with my ticket lol. The estimated number was 250,000. I have a feeling that they lied. Haha. I also got Kurt Loder from MTV News autograph! The media only focused on the last hour of the festival when the rioting occured. Not the 3 days of Peace and Music. I do agree with you though, about Advertising a show with Nu-Metal and Metal bands as a Peaceful show.
