A tornado warning is in effect in DeKalb Co. This storm is heading toward Lake and Cook Counties in Illinois. Be careful.

Holy crap. This storm is crazy. Tornado warnings everywhere, including south cook county which is where I live. But I don't hear any sirens.

Wow. The siren was going off, and I'm surprised my mom wasn't freaking out about it. If there was a tornado here, it wasn't near us. Someone texted my brother saying "There's a tornado in Oak Forest" and my brother just left earlier to UIC. And now it's 69 degrees... wow. I just picked up branches off the driveway, there is sooo much.

Im in Cook, and just got out of school, after a "tornado" (unconfirmed) hit our neighborhoods detroying trees parts of houses, up rooting trees, large signs knocked over, bent billboards, roof collapse at stores and much much more. I haven't experienced a storm like this yet!

wow. I know a lot about tornadoes and everything and stuff like this doesn't really happen so much in August, at least in our area.

Um... wow. The tornado siren going off 2-3 times in one day? What an afternoon.

I looked outside and it was getting to look like it was night time. It was extremely dark in the distance. Then the tornado siren started going off. After it stopped, I went outside and looked at the amazing sky and the siren goes on AGAIN, this time louder. The sky was starting to look a little green... and it got green in our area eventually. It was so damn scary. I eventually went inside once it started pouring. Now it's pretty much passed, but there's still likely to be more storms.

This has been an amazing afternoon. Yesterday was pretty interesting too. Although at 4am that really really loud one woke me up and kept me awake.

Crap, the lights are flickering. My heart stopped haha.

I look at the radar and it seems everytime a new storm is forming out west... it's just one storm after another.

In Bolingbrook, an unconfirmed tornado uprooted several trees in a DuPage County forest preserve (Greene Valley). Also damaged a nearby farm/ranch.

Wow. This could be the third time this year a tornado has touched down in Bolingbrook. The other two were EF0's near 127th, but this one was very close to homes. It also hit at the bottom of a valley. Thank God no one was hurt. I just wish I got it on tape.

Mammatus Clouds Dont mean severe weather is forming or near, nor do they mean theres tornadoes near either.

Mammatus Clouds are the underside of a Thunderstorms' Anvil cloud, and since an Anvil cloud is associated with pretty much all thunderstorms on earth, you can pretty much see mammatus during most storms.

Now As for the Current Weather Situation....

Here is a look at Doppler Radar (This Image is from the Radar Site in Lincoln IL, as the Romeoville Site has been knocked out due to the storm)

Image

You Can see some Very heavy Thunderstorms in our far southern suburbs, south of Park Forest and along the Indiana state line.

I really dont see a let up in these storms until atleast 3am but then Tomorrow theres another chance for Severe Weather as well. And actually some models are looking at an even better chance for Severe Weather Tomorrow. as you can see from the forecast from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman OK.

We've had the sirens go off twice here, the winds seemed to be worse beforehand.

The rotation spotted near Oak Forest, later was visible from my house.

Thanks for the update Galvan.
Hopefully the football game tomorrow will be canceled. :)

More Severe Weather still likely over the area tonight....

Image

As you can see from the Doppler Radar, very heavy thunderstroms are moving into the Southwestern Suburbs, (Please note this Radar image is from the Radar located in Lincoln Illinois as the radar for Chicago, located in Romeoville was struck by lightning)

As you can see a squall like is developing from a line around Princeton IL, to about Morris and is heading East Northeast.

This is definately not good news as heavy rain from this afternoon's storms as well as previous nights storms are making rivers around the area at or well above flood stage.

More Severe Weather Expected tomorrow as highs push back close to 90.

My town, Barrington, was flooded in some spots. There were people nearly swiming to get to their cars at the train station.

Beautiful sky.

Scary sky.

This is me driving through roughly 3 feet of water.

A little too dark, but you can see how much water there is. It was worse in other areas.

At least I wasn't in a tent for this storm.
