A LOT harder than you think, trust me.

I contacted B&M awhile ago and I got a really nice response from Walter.

He basically said, good luck trying to get in, because it's a small as hell industry. But Mechanical Engineering is what you're going to want.

And being an engineer is not easy at all, it is a lot of work, especially being at Northwestern, but I am sure it is just as hard at other schools too.

But even before the homework comes in.

Engineering schools are pretty tough to get into.
You gotta have insane skillz.

You don't have to have "insane" skills. Out of H.S. I had a 3.79/4 and 27 ACT 1330 SAT and that got me into one of the best Engineering schools in the area. Also could have gone to U of I at Chambana.

^Lucky! I went into architecture and i know people who had ACTs of 29 and above and GPAs of 4.0 and above that still didn't get into U of I for it.

Now, for mr. future builder of roller coasters, just make sure you do two things. First, make sure that you like engineering enough where if something doesn't work out, you still enjoy your profession. And second, never back down from a dream. If you want to design roller coasters, who cares how slim the odds are, try your best and those who want it enough will succeed! Keeping that in mind, I hope everything works out for the best for you. In my case, i was not a fan of engineering, but found a love in architecture. So keeping in mind that theme parks need architects too, i chose that as a major and I love every bit of it. It all depends on what your true interests are at heart. Hope that helps a little..

Its not only about your grades, it is also about your other things you have done too. Like I had hockey and tech crew and on four other teams/clubs in HS with a 4.26 out of 4 and a 29 ACT to get into NU. The best way to do it is put your mind to it, work hard and never look back.
