Giant gorillas were created by the Hollywood masters of the1930s, and live on in fables, modern film and at Six Flags Great America. Since making its debut in 2003, a giant, nameless gorilla has loyally emerged each September in preparation for one of the Midwest’s largest fall festivals, Fright Fest. But where did it come from?
Starting September 19, 2005, Six Flags Great America invites writers of all ages to create an exciting short story or essay about the famous gorilla answering those age-old questions: where did it come from, why is it at Six Flags and most importantly, what is his/her name?! The essay contest will initiate the start of Six Flags Great America’s 15th Annual Fright, scheduled to open Saturday, October 8.

I actually had some time to kill this afternoon and wrote something real quick, if you guys wanna read it:
Four years back Larry the Gorilla was on a vacation in the European Alps because he absolutely loved being high up in the air. Everything was going great on his climb when he slipped off a giant cliff! The situation was dire when a giant net suddenly stopped him! But it wasn’t a net, it was a spider web! When Larry met Tiny the spider they instantly fell in love. Tiny explained how she usually lived on American Eagle at Six Flags Great America. Larry couldn’t leave his love so he followed her and now lives on Sky Trek Tower.

The hardest part was that damned 100 word count limit. I mean seriously, when I was done (it wasn't long at all) Iwas still at 142 words. Had to take out a lot of descriptive sentances that were used to allow the story to make sense. Oh well I sent it in.
