So today I went to Great America anticipating small crowds because there was supposed to be thunderstorms later in the day. I wasn't wrong...
We started the day off with Goliath (Running with a different crew than I'm used to). Operations were fair, I got back row with my mom who has never been on Goliath.
Next, we went to V2 only to find it was shut down. It remained that way for the rest of the day...
After that disappointment, we headed towards Batman which was still testing. Right when I was about to ask how long the wait would be, they opened the gate. We rode front row on the third train out.
Superman was next on our agenda. I find that when you do single rider with a friend, you get paired with another group of two... Anyways, nothing special about this particular ride.
We then went to Whizzer. After almost 45 minutes of waiting, they announced they were closing down for storms (We were on the stairway up to ride). After waiting almost another 30 minutes, we decided to go eat lunch.
Upon returning, we went and rode the train (pictures below). The ride started out calm and sunny, but by the time we reached County Fair... Let's just say you didn't want to be near metal or in the open. Lightning was right above us, and it was raining very heavily.
After the rain let up, we went towards Southwest Territory. Nothing new in SWAmp... But we rode Chubasco while we waited for storms to pass.
We then went back to Hometown Square to find that Whizzer was still closed, so we rode Triple Play. Whizzer then opened, so we rode it.
Next stop was Raging Bull. My sister had never been on it before, so it took some convincing to get her to ride. After over an hour of waiting, they closed the rides due to storms again. We waited this one out and ended up on the stairs. After a total wait of 3.5 HOURS, it finally reopened. My sister enjoyed it and said that it was worth the wait...
With an hour and a half until the park closed, we rode Ricochet, X-Flight (Extremely slow ops), and visited a few gift shops. In the end I can home with a new SF shirt, and a V2 Blueprint. I'll leave you with these pics of X-Flight and Eagle (Which did open at all either).
