Adventureland

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

In other news I'm sure everyone knows that Adventureland about 4.5-5 hours west of the area is getting the US's first Infinity Coaster by Gerstlauer, it seems to be coming along nicely and has awesome looking trains.

Might be going to a wedding near Des Moines in 2017. We'll see if I have time for Adventureland

^It has to do with the trains. In a euro-fighter, each row is a single car, whereas all rows are their own car on an Infinity.

Trains are basically the same Eurofighter to Infinity each row is still an individual car, though now you can make the train as long as is needed rather than limited to 2 rows due to a little added flexibility between cars, the other change is what's available on the ride, basically for Infinity they took pretty much all of their different kinds of coasters and rolled em into one. Monster is pretty vanilla and will lack the extra flexibility in the train due to it being 2 rows, and in the end is basically a Eurofighter, but looking at a ride such as Schwur des Kärnan at Hansa Park with it's pants ruining lifthill and everything else it does, it's easier to see the differences

Also, these have Clamshell restrains vs. OTSRs/normal lapbars(with the exception of Smiler).

Lapbar vs OTSR was an option available to the parks before the switch to Infinity. Not many parks went with lapbars though, of course after they built a few then everyone started wanted the lapbars. I know Iron shark and Dare Devil Dive were still Eurofighters

I have yet to visit Adventureland but this is catching my attention. I view this as being similar to SDC. There were reasons to go before Outlaw, but that's what really drives it home. Same with the new Gerstlauer.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

I have never been to Adventureland, but now I want to go! I checked out their website and they seem to have a decent sized park with some nice looking rides.

We were already discussing Cedar Point and possibly the Six Flags in Maryland so I don't know if this will make the list this year.

Only CP and SFA? SFA has my number one steel coaster but then SFGAd has mhy number two steel and number one wood. I would highly recommend visiting SFGAd instead.

I remember driving to KC in 2014 and near Des Moines I saw a park I've never heard of, sure enough it was Adventureland. Now it's catching attention and making a name for itself.

We have a busy summer coming up and a lot of weekends are already accounted for. :( Plus, I recently switched employers so I don't have a lot of PTO/flexibility like I had with my last employer. Sucks, but the kid will have to suck it up for only going to 5 amusement parks this year! We've done Disneyland and Six Flags St. Louis already this year, this weekend we'll do SFGAM, and then possibly CP and SFA sometime during the summer or early fall!

Sorry to bump, but me and family went here about a month ago and had a great time! Monster was fantastic, especially at night. The lighting package is stunning, as you have a dark-ish ride on the coaster, but everyone on the ground is witnessing a light show. Outlaw was pretty fun. It was built by CCI, but designed by Mike Boodley, the guy who created GCI. Tornado was neat, Underground is a knock off Blazing Fury/Fire in the Hole, and Dragon is terrible. Food was nice, Outlaw Gulch had some nice theming, Falling Star and G Force were great flats. AVOID INVERTER AND THE MINI TOO SPIN! That is unless you plan to sterilize yourself. The skyride is really neat, as was Storm Chaser. What the park needs is a Chance Hyper GTX or one of those new Vekoma coasters from Poland. If you're in the Des Moines area, I highly suggest checking this out. It's only like 10-15 minutes from Downtown Des Moines.

Overall it was a pretty underwhelming park. Decent coasters but terrible capacity.
