Passing on a season pass 2009 -- Who else?

Yes indeed, my boycott will continue next year. Going on 3 years now. In the late 90's and early 00's I got one every year. I got the CF PP this year and went to Worlds of Fun, KI, CP (3x), VF, and KBF is coming up in a couple months. A lot better investment then a SFGAM pass would've been even if I do live 45 mins from that park.

I am an adrenaline thrill seeker with no kids so Six Flags apparently doesn't want me there anyways. Fine by me, I'll happily spend my time and money at parks that install THRILL rides for people like me.

As I watched DejaVu come down last winter, I wondered if I would ever be persuaded to go there again. So far that answer is a huge no.

Hold on a minute. When I say improve, I mean in all aspects. Cleanliness, variety, theme, pricing, food quality, etc. Not everybody that visits the park is there JUST for the thrills although it seems to be the majority. In my opinion, the park will lose money if it doesn't improve in all categories.

I've been visiting the park since 1983. Been on every coaster except Z-Force and The Edge. My memories at this park were among the most magical of my childhood. In the offseason, I would dream about going to the park in the summertime. I would have nervous anticipation for weeks before my annual summer visit, and waking up the morning of a Six Flags visit was rivaled only by waking up on Christmas morning.

As I became an adult, the magic obviously became a bit less intense, but the park was still my favorite place to be every summer. You can take your concerts, rafting, etc...give me Great America! I discovered the season pass. Some of my fondest memories were of Bull and Viper walk-ons in late May. I was also at the park on on the second operating day of Deja Vu --waited 2 hrs and 15 minutes, and it was worth it. It became my favorite coaster, and made it worth it for me to take a quick trip to the park if I was by myself just to ride it. By the way, I also enjoyed Theater Royale and made it a staple if I visited the park for an entire day.

To me, the magic is leaving, and the feel of decay is taking its place. Someday I will likely take my kids to introduce them to the magic of theme parks. (Lord knows there will be plenty for them to do). But for me, it's like I'm missing an old friend.

I must have read your statement the wrong way. I apologize. Sometimes reading some comments on these boards can get really frustrating. It's hard to except what Great America is going through, but in the end, it is what it is.

1st of all, that won't happen, at least anytime soon most likely. 2nd,if you want to drive around in antique cars, go to Kiddieland. lol Don't make something like that stop you from going to the park. Tons of skywhirl lovers still visit the park and enjoy it to some extent. Oh, and to RB4life, no problem. It happens.

^Who's to say it won't happen. The cars take gas, and you know how gas prices are. It's also a lower capacity ride. You have 2 people only per car. If that's not enough, they have the newer Wiggle's World cars in which they could say serve the same purpose, but it's a much smaller track. The company doesn't care about preserving old rides. They care about saving money. If Whizzer costs too much money, they would take it out, and put in a cheaper kids roller coaster instead. Just because it's been there for so many years, doesn't mean anything.

For Kiddieland, they might be going away in 2010, so you better get out there soon to go on those antique cars if that's the only park that has them around here in 2009. They are so much better at Kiddieland anyway. All I have to say is the hill.

All the rides at Kiddieland are better in my opinion on a comparable basis to Great America.

The poor marketing for Six Flags is we can't tell you what the new ride is, but it has something to do with water, and ashore. Just tell the people what it is. That tells you diddly squat except that it involves water. It says that on the 10 reasons for season pass.

I cant agree with little dipper vs. American Eagle. Eagle does have it's moments. Also Galleon and River Rocker are 100% identical rides except for themeing. Other than that, no complaints. Happened to pass by Kiddieland today, was closed for weather as you would probably expect.

And those Moser Spring Towers are fun as hell, in alot of cases better than Giant Drops.

I disagree completely. You just can't compare something like Little Dipper to American Eagle. It's a fun little ride but nothing comparable. The only points I'd agree on are Log Jammer and Antique Cars being better rides.

^No there not. The Polyp does not have free spinning cars. And the program is 4 times better then ERC. Its rotates a lot faster, and you get good pops of airtime.

Polyp at Kiddieland is a "Monster 1"
ERC at SFGAm is "Monster 2"

The difference is the spinning cars.

Polyp at Kiddieland is a Bakker/Appeldoorn Polyp (only one in the states I know of). It has very little in common with East River Crawler that being a Schwarzkopf Monster III.

Ride wise it's similar though the cars dont spin at KL, mechanically it's 100% different. And Polyp at KL is run all out with great airtime and good forces.

Also forgot, have to disagree with Fiddlers Fling vs. the Tilt a Whirl. Totally different animal completely.

And Skinners Spider is Eylerly and again is totally different from just about every standpoint.

I'll probably get one anyway. Like they say it pays for itself with less than 2 visits. Plus, I got one last year even though I knew Deja Vu was going to be gone. I still like the park. Man, I have come a LONG way.

I got mine on the first night they went on sale in the park (I refuse to pay the 3 bucks to print the pass myself). To me, I live 7 miles from the park, so makes sence. I also plan on hitting at least St. Louis and Kentucky Kingdom (if they get Twisted Twins running again).

Just as an FYI to those who plan to wait, passes will be jumping to 84.99 at some point, as that was the message on the pass holder hotline. Right now, you also get 2 free tickets, one for Nov 1-2 and one for anytime between now and Sept. next year. The current 69.99 price should last until the park closes on Nov. 2nd due to the amount of ads around the park for the 69.99 price.

Man, I have to consider this. Right now, $69.99 seems like a lot. Last January I got my pass for my birthday. That free ticket for the remainder of the season now is a draw but then again with a 1/2 off coupon my brother would pay half of $34.99 right?
