What the heck is the Outbox?

Okay, what's the difference between the Outbox and the Sentbox when you check your messages? Because when I send PM's, most of them went to the Sentbox, but two of them went to the Outbox. Just curious. I'm sort of afraid the messages that show up in the Outbox didn't get sent or something.
Hee hee, look. I have a signature thingy um, thing.
Outbox means they haven't been read yet, Sentbox means they have.

The outbox also lets you edit or delete your message before it's read.
