The President Is Doing Something About Gas Prices

Announcements & News From The Homepage
Postby RagingBullFan on Fri May 05, 2006 10:35 am
The President announced today a plan to do something to address record gasoline prices -- Six Flags President Mark Shapiro, that is. This spring, he's giving the green light to a new discount promotion for everyone paying more at the pump.

Beginning today, Six Flags is offering guests $15 off admission on up to six full-price general admissions tickets to any one of Six Flags' thirteen theme parks if they simply show a receipt for a recent gasoline purchase.

"We've seen what's going on with gas prices and we understand the dilemma the American consumer is facing," said Shapiro. "As gas prices go up, Six Flags is the perfect entertainment option for families as more Americans choose to avoid flying and high airfares and take big carloads of family and friends to places more affordable and closer to home."

Six Flags is supporting this promotion with full-page advertisements beginning today in The New York Times and USA Today:

"Our President is Doing Something about Gas Prices.
He's giving you $15 off admissions to Six Flags.
'Bring any gas receipt to our main gate and we'll give you $15 off
admission' -- Mark Shapiro, President/CEO, Six Flags."

An image of the advertisement is available <a href="http://www.sfgamworld.com/AD.jpg" class="news" target="blank">here.</a>

The promotion will be valid through May 29, so Six Flags guests are encouraged to step on it -- and head to their nearest Six Flags theme park.

Rules and Restrictions

Present your gasoline receipt at the ticket booth at any of the 13 Six Flags-branded parks in the US and receive $15 off general admission for up to 6 full price general admissions per gasoline receipt. Coupon is not valid at Six Flags Water Parks, Wyandot Lake, The Great Escape, Frontier City and Enchanted Village. Promotion cannot be combined with any other discount admission including Child, Sr. Citizen, Two-Day, Multi-Park, or Evening Discount Tickets. Not valid on New Jersey Safari or 3 Park tickets. Discount cannot be sold, bartered or redeemed for cash. Coupon valid through 05/29/2006.

If only our other president would do something.

But I digress, I like the Idea, if they advertise it well, I think it will really help keep attendance figures up. Now if only they offered season pass discounts for all the gas money spent. :)

I was hoping they would take my season pass, scan it, then give me $5 off somewhere inside the park.

But seriously, great job Six Flags.

I saw that ad in the USA Today, it was a full page, I didnt think of anything until I saw the Six Flags logo on the page, then I was interested. It is a great deal to get more people coming to the parks before the peak season starts, since they said it is only good till May 29.
Please excuse our mess, we are currently enhancing the future for your greater enjoyment.

I would be much more impressed if it would be for the whole yearm rather than to increase attendance during a normally slow period of the year.
But, what is he going to offer us poor seasonpass holders for our driving expenses during this time of high gas prices???

Are you ever happy with what Six Flags does? Granted, the Carrothead thing was not a smart move, but come on. This is a pretty damn good idea to draw folks to the park. If you were that concerned about high gas prices, then why did you but a season pass?

I hope this makes sense, but, season pass holders do not draw in the cash as people who pay for tickets for each visit. People who do not visit the park on a regular basis like us season pass holders are more likely to spend alot more money in the park. $15 saved on gate admission, will probably be made up in the park with food, games, souveners, and the likes.

One qustion Could this be used to get a season pass at $15 off also. Since I'm heading down to Stl next week I was wondering if that would save me money on the pass.

Rbull4life I agree with you what they are trying to get os people who would not have normally gone to the park or usually waits till the summer, to come in now and spend money at the park during what is mormally a slow period of the season. Not someone who is coming a lready or a season pass holder who will stay only part of the day.

Where is this advertised? Is there a coupon to go along with it? Has any one done this yet? I looked at sixflags.com and didn't see it there. Any more information about this would be great!
