No Limits Question

Talk about RCT 2, RCT, No Limits, Hyper Rails, Scream Machines or any other Rollercoaster related game here.
Postby cycamps on Tue Jul 31, 2007 11:35 pm
I would really love to play No Limits but I downloaded the demo and I have no clue where to start. So my question is, how do I start, and is it anything like Scream Machines once you get started? Thanks a lot.

It's really nothing like Scream Machines, as far as I know. Also, I really don't remember if you can build a coaster with just the demo. At least I know you can't ride them.

The NoLimits help file has the basics on how to build a coaster. To create track, click the "Add Vertex" button, which looks like a blue piece of track with a red ball at the end. Click wherever you want. Select the pointer tool, then the vertex, and play around with the white dots until the track is where you want it.

Here's a tutorial on the basic chainlifts, launches, and brakes:

What is the point of having a demo if you can't build a coaster on it?

You use the demo to see how the architecture works and everything. The demo lets you ride coasters in the editor mode, and you can ride any of the pre-installed rides in the simulator. You cannot save on the demo. I think that its a good program to buy and suggest you should buy it. At first, I got frustrated with it, but now I love to play it. Also, its not like rct3, where it takes 2min to build a coaster, but nl takes a lot of time to build a smooth and nice one.

So how hard is it relative to Scream Machines? And is it better?

NoLimits is harder to design a coaster, and once you finish you feel like you achieved something( ha... if you actually built something). I haven't played Scream Machines, but NL gives you a lot to choose from and has better graphics (from what i hear). If you have an old computer though, stick with Scream Machines. I have a quad-core, 3g ram, 512mb graphics, 640gb hd, and it runs flawlessly for me. I think that my computer "over-achieves" the recommended specs, so if it is a little slower, dont worry. I think that its a good 30 spent, and don't wait for NoLimits 2 to come out because thats not unti late 2008!

An NL tip: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!! (designs and rides)

run the ride. By yourself. Dispatch, air gates, restraints, e-stop.

^You don't have to open and close the air gates, or even open and close the restraints. Just dispatch when you get the green light.

The simulator (generally) will not allow you dispatch a train without putting the restraints down, without closing the gates, and until the next block clears.

However, there are ways of sending a train with open restraints, and open gates in No Limits.
RCDB says: "The Crystal Beach Cyclone is considered by many to be the most extreme roller coaster ever built."
