Gone rides that you never got to in time...

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby gottastrata33 on Wed Nov 19, 2008 9:18 pm
What rides or coasters have you wished you rode that are now gone? Ive had friends talk about our shockwave so i thought what everyone elses rides were that they never got to ride but always wanted to.

My main one is Hypersonic: XLC.

everyone tells me im not missin anything, but its the fact I haven't been able to judge it for myself. I see it on tv and hear about it so much. It looks awsome but now ill never know.

Great topic.

For me, it would be Z Force, Shockwave, Rolling Thunder and Deja Vu on the coaster side of things. I had never been to Great America before this year and missed out on Vu. My fiancée always said her favorite ride was Rolling Thunder and wish I could have rode it to see how it was.

On the flats part, I wish I could have rode The Edge and Powerdive. Both look * and unique.

As you have seen mentioned here a few times, Rolling thunder is the name of the coaster you explained.

...and ooh Zonga is another. That coaster was gorgeous.

I was hardly born when Zforce left, I didn't even know Hay Bayler existed the first time I went to the park, I wanted to go on Powerdive I remember watching it one day and I was like "Oh no im not going on that"
SF trips 08 = 8
SF trips 09 = First trip will probably be 5/9/09 or 5/16/09 depending when I get out of school.

Shockwave, O Shockwave, How my head hurt sooo!

Shockwave, was LOOP Heaven, and because of its age, made it horrible once you went into the 4th loop!

Your riding.....going up the lift.....YOU DROP........loop one is amazing, loop 2 is even more amazing, loop 3 you realize ok no more loops, end of loop 3 into loop 4 you start getting tunnel vision and you see white lights and your ready to pass out. Then we hit the cork screws, which give the worst headache ever. After riding shockwave, you need a soda and a 20 minute rest to let your Brain restore itself. Not worth it! Road it once, never Again, of course, the year after it got demolished and superman arrived.

My list is short cause generally when I hear a place or a coaster I want to ride is closing, I go and ride it reguardless where it is.
But basically Starliner at Cypress Gardens which I seem to have missed for now. Ozark Wildcat which closed with basically no warning
though may not be gone. Lethal Weapon The Persuit aka Cop Car Chase at WBMW/Movie Park in Germany, I was at the park about
2 weeks after they removed the lift chains and they were getting ready to tear up the ride. I was at Knotts Berry Farm in 95 and
wasnt really into coasters at the time, so I missed Soapbox Derby Racers, sorta kicking myself for that one. And last but not least
Thriller, aka Texas Tornado at Astroworld but it was closed when I was at the park my first time, and Six Flags butchered the ride beyond
recognition when they sent it to Marine World and I had no interest what so ever in riding it there and the park in Mexico it's at
now left the ride the same so still no interest.

That's all I can really think of that I could have had a chance to ride but didnt. I'm not counting stuff that closed before I got into the hobby
or closed before I was born or anything like that.

Batman and Robin the Chiller at SFGAdv
Two-Face at Six Flags America, but than I got to ride Invertigo so it doesn't matter.

Regular Disko' at Cypress Gardens (I've been on the Disko' Coaster, and I'm guessing it's pretty much the same experience, but I'm not sure.) They are still around though. I'm not really worried about riding one because the coaster was iffy though.

Some carnival rides that I have seen, but I have never wanted or cared to ride them (However, they could come back.) but now I want to are:

Sky Wheel
Sky Diver
The "real" Santa Clause is St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas had a wealthy family, and his parents died. He gave of what he had because God said to, to poor children. He gave gifts to them. The tradition continues today. The Americanized Santa Claus is basically so people that don't believe in saints or God at all can participate.

You missed Sky Wheel by 2 years, used to come though Streator, IL every 4'th of July with Mighty
Bluegrass Midways, now they dont bother moving it up there from FL, it goes straight to Peoria.
McDunough (sp?) has one traveling in Michigan that also goes up to the MN State Fair on an annual
basis. Belle City has one in IN though not entirely sure if they use it in IN at all. There are a few
other ones out there also.

If I end up going to California's Great America I guess I can take Deja Vu and Powerdive off my list, since they have rides there just like Vu and powerdive.
