It is so hilarious when the voice on Scenic Railway says "New for 2007... The Dark Knight Coaster! etc.." We heard it last Wednesday.

Hopefully Dark Knight will never get advertised again. You know you are in trouble when you show a logo in a commercial for a NEW ride. Yeah, a LOGO not the ride itself. Ok, maybe they showed 1 or 2 seconds of a animated part of the ride but you get my point. Six Flags Great America advertisements this year consisted of Hurricane Harbor and a animated/logo Dark Knight. How far in debt are they?

not 100% sure on the exact number, but they are over $2,000,000,000 in debt. I think it was 2.3 billion dollars last I heard, but the number changes depending on where and if SF is spending $$.

Six Flags never turned a profit, but that didnt stop their spending spree. There is a reason Shapiro is in charge now, and that's it.

It's not an issue with our park, our park does very very well, however, Six Flags is a chain and that means that our profits are cancelled out by other parks that dont do as well. And the old management thought building bigger coasters would solve the attendence problems in these parks, but they were wrong and after years of trying this "plan" they looked at the budget and they were 2 billion in debt. Now the park is forced to make all these cuts to try to catch up because nobody will give them any more loans. So be glad that we are getting anything at all. Dark Knight may suck, but its better than nothing..... Thing's will be different now that the Shapiro is being responsible, but at least the debt it being rectified and things will get better.

It will take more than removing Deja Vu/SWF and putting up a cheap family coaster to help SFGam make Six Flags a profit. How about taking care of the rides you got and realizing higher costs at the park will not mean higher profits?

2 billion? How? How is that possible?

First off, they went on a park buying spree which was stupid. Than, eventually they got rid of so many parks which is a waste of money. Second off, they built too many new attractions year after year after year, and are still doing the same thing except they are cheaper. The prices for what they are building is extremely discounted including season passes. I think parking is the only thing that has really been a killer, and has been too high. Extreme discounts is a horrible idea. Season pass prices are really cheap, and have been for a long time.

Extreme discounts are still in order, along with season pass prices. They are still building stuff every year which is stupid, but it's less money. They really are gaining money through advertising like anything, and probably because of these lockers. Don't forget about parking has gone up too. They are also saving money by taking out rides at most of there parks, and doing things like having County Fair not open until later.

^Six Flags has to build new rides year after year after year because you want more people to come to your park and if you don't have anything new nobody will come. If people do not come they will lose even more money!

Well the numbers speak for themselves.

This year, a year of 3 wild mice and other reasonably sized and priced attractions is resulting in what may very well be the first time in the History of Six Flags where they will make more money than they have spent in a year.

^^I don't think Six Flags needs to build new rides from year to year. In 1999, attendance went up from previous, and than it took until 2005 (a new waterpark) until it went up again. They built 4 rolller coasters in that period of time. Did it help?

^The way I can see that their strategy is working is by looking at next years attendance numbers. Did they make enough people mad this year that less people come next year? People saw the $29.99 deal, and thought that's cheap, but than all the other expensive prices plus the lockers, and they don't want to come back next year. You would think that more people would complain about something they like, right? I complained about something, and I didn't get a message back from them. So, forget complaining anymore because it doesn't help.

This company still should get back the people they lost in 2006 from 2005. They lost 8% of people from Great America that year which is a lot people. So, even if they gain a couple percentages above 2005, they are still are way below what they were before.

Since The Dark Knight Coaster is indoors and is not affected by the weather, doesn't that mean the park can still run in throughout November while they "put the park to sleep for winter?" They don't really have to do anything for DK.

Why would they do that? Every other ride is closed.

During the winter season TDK will get the same treatment all other rides get, usually at the very least a tear down of wheel bogie assemblies and lubrication/inspection of all bearings/gears/brakes. Too bad there's no heat in the building either....

Why wouldn't they heat it? I mean I'm glad it has cool temps in summer but that is weird. Maybe they thought since it is closed and very few people are there inside off-months it was pointless.

When you have the debt that Six Flags have, cuts have to be made. The equipment was cut due to its costs, same with the A/C for the building (ride building).
