So late in the season? I doubt they will re-open it this late in the game! Why not wait till September? 2 weeks away only. Anyone going to the park from now on please try to take even a picture or two. We all love seeing pictures even when we know what the rides look like. It makes you feel like you are almost there.
The countdown is on! Finally! Thanks

It would make sense to keep it closed sense it will close in two weeks anyway.

It could be closed because of low staffing, but why would it be drained then.

Flumes and Rapids are drained every night. Nothing to get excited (or worried) over. If they know it isn't going to open that day (for staffing, maintenance, or otherwise), they're not going to bother turning the pumps on.

As for Hurricane Harbor, it seems to be having MAJOR staffing problems this week. The last two days, they've had a sign outside the entrance listing attractions that may not be operating, and everything was listed except Hurricane Bay, Castaway Creek, and Skull Island. Pretty pathetic.

When I worked at Deep River Waterpark, we had the same problems. The attractions are either rotated open and closed during the day, and some were not even open at all. It just depends on how much staffing you have available. Once the high schools and colleges begin to start up, the kids that have school usually put their "two weeks notice" in, and you have even more of a limited staff.

I remember a time where we had maybe 14 lifeguards and maybe 3 or 4 slide attendants for an entire day. This of course was a major drop considering we generally had 35+ guards at open with 16+ slide attendants. Then when the "break" guards would come in, we would gain maybe 3 or 4 more people if that. Its definitely not a fun position to be in. Especially if you are trying to manage what is going on, or even working without breaks.

If they are going to open only 3 attractions that day, why would they even open the waterpark at all.

Ya but you have to pay the lifeguards to work them and they have to pay to run the pumps so it they are only going to open 3 attractions they are wasting money!

Its a good thing they're expanding it then :). But in all seriousness considering how hot its been that cant be good for business. If SF decides to expand its hiring to get more lifeguards the beaches in South Africa are going to have to close for staffing though.

It's not a big loss though cause the pool season is over for most people now anyway. Students going back to school and people spending more time at home/work than pools and amusement parks.

OMG pictures...doesn't get any better than pictures. Can't wait till my trip Wednesday. Too bad the park has shortened hours now. I'll have to make sure me and my brother get there right at 10AM. If the crowds are too big the first place we'll go is Hometown Square for our flash passes. Can't wait.
